Spring Break Fever, Literally!

S'mores poolside
Jordan started her spring break early with 102 fever Thursday evening.  She spent Thursday and Friday resting on the sofa, on the floor, on the bed watching lots of TV and eating NOTHING!  Not even BROWNIES, her favorite thing.  The fever rose and fell all weekend so Monday morning, the first "official" day of Spring Break was spent with Dr. Yamauchi.  He proclaimed her sick with a bacterial infection of the nose!  Yuck!  10 days of antibiotics.  So now it is Wednesday and we are at attempting our family vacation anyway.  We chose the Moody Gardens Hotel with access to the aquarium, rainforest exhibit (which, unfortunately, is closed for renovation until May), a huge heated outdoor pool, and lots of kids activities.  The beach this morning was chilly and a little miserable, but the pool has been a blast!  We had s'mores, bouncy house time, and ice cream.

Windy at the beach

Burr!

Almost too cold

Trying again to get into the cold water

Okay, that's enough!  Ready to go!

Beautiful heated outdoor pool

Bouncy house open all day!  Pretty rough in there!

Jordan's Kitty Apron

I pulled out my sewing machine!  I have all of these great books and patterns (thanks to my family!) and I wanted to use part of my spring break to make some stuff.  It is also another way to procrastinate from my "unfinished" projects.  My first objective:  Make another apron for Jordan

Her cute little bug apron is too small now.  Sniff, sniff!  She requested Kitties for her new apron.

Need bigger apron, with Kitties!
Crash likes the Kitties
Used velcro, instead of ties
Yay!  Now we can make cookies!
New apron looks great!

Project Ishbel

After making a resolution to finish 12 "unfinished" projects, I immediately finished my Noro scarf.  To reward myself for completing Project Number 1, I started my Ishbel pattern using beautiful Malabrigo lace yarn.  It was a lovely pattern to knit.  The yarn was soft and luscious.  I had a couple of issues when I started the lace pattern.

I almost gave up and started over.  I did eventually get into a groove.  I finished it, and then it rode around in my yarn bag for the month of February.  Today, March 14th, I blocked it with my fabulous blocking wires.
