Backyard Bunnies

We have a family of bunnies living in our luscious backyard!  Blake discovered them while mowing the lawn last week.  All of a sudden these tiny little bunnies came hopping out of a hole that he mowed over.  They barely had their eyes open.  We were afraid to touch them to put them back in the hole! Blake, being worried they would not find their way back, used a ball scoop to guide them back to their warm hole.  We waited for the mother to come back, but she did not return.
After some research, I found that the mother stays away on purpose to keep predators away.  She lines the hole with grass and fur to keep the babies warm, then returns 2 or 3 times a day, usually at dawn and dusk.  She sits upon the hole and lets the bunnies nurse, then she takes off again.   So we were much relieved to see her the next day taking care of her babies again.

We learned that touching them does not cause the mother to abandon them, though we are trying to keep  Jordan from touching them all the time. We allowed her to pet them gently and hold one briefly.  She can barely contain herself.  We check on them often.

It's probably not a good idea to encourage bunnies to live and multiply in our yard.  We don't need any more pets.

It's time to play!

Jordan is playing her second season of soccer.  We are very proud of her abilities!
Special talent number 1: kicking dirt
It takes a lot of skill to find all of the driest patches on the field while running after the ball.
Special talent number 2: picking grass
She is very good at not getting her fingers stepped on while everyone is kicking the ball around her.  She bends over, reaches between their kicking feet, and finds the Perfect blade of grass!
Special talent number 3: finding ant piles
She can always tell you when there are ants

Special talent number 4: Frolicking, yes that is the word, behind the others when the ball is in play

Special talent number 5: looking fabulous in soccer outfit
(Obviously)

Here are some more pictures of my Ishbel!

Autumn Simple Things: Unfinished Project Number 2

I started this project as one shawl, and finished it as another!  I bought the yarn last fall and started a shawl many other friends were working on.  It was called Pogona.  After working on it awhile, I set it down.  There were some issues that made the shawl un-enjoyable at the time.  A friend told me that she liked another pattern called Simple Things.  I downloaded the pattern, and then started other things.  I picked this project back up on March 14th and had it blocked on March 29th.  Now I have 2 more unfinished projects to finish before I am caught up with my goal.  It is already April!!!
